Such
floorings are commonly used in mediterranean countries and around the
aegean region. they are broadly utilized in the residences, both interior
and exterior, in greece and
the aegean islands.
Due to the conditions of climate in the surrounding
region, the use of podýma
in the courtyards and gardens has been organized, as it is a part of the
residences.
Ýn the gardens or all areas open to use have been
covered with black and white or colorful pebbles depicting
flat, geometrical,or plant motýfs. White pebbles were particularly
surrounded with a border of black pebbles.

been widely
use mainly because of its color harmony, its suitability for designs

to keep clean, its immediate drying nature and its feature of keeping
both courtyards and residences cool are the other reasons to use podýma.
current interpretations of podýma are being made with modern
understanding along with the taste of the past and in conformity with
historical and environmental realities.
It is especially used in the gardens, walking paths, and around the
edges of pools with a rich range of material options such as marbles,
ceramics or pebbles in
accordance with the decoration and the
